Welcome to WMTRAIN

Involvement in research and quality improvement is essential for all trainees in medical specialities. Research knowledge and activity are compulsory features of both anaesthesic and ICM training curriculums. Levels of participation vary between trainees, from those fulfilling their requirements for ARCP and keeping abreast of current evidence to those undertaking research programmes and higher degrees. Traditionally, few trainees have been able to complete large scale quality improvement (QI) projects or clinical trials due to training commitments and frequent rotation between posts. Trainees wishing to get involved in research have found it difficult to access information and support. Many trainees would like to get involved with research, without necessarily committing to an academic training programme. The West Midlands Trainee Research in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Network (WMTRAIN) has been set up by a group of research and education-active trainees to facilitate trainee
